Clinical Nurse Leader I, Birthing Center II and Maternal Special Care Unit | Sidra Medical and Research Center in Doha

Based in Doha, Qatar, Sidra Medical and Research Center will be the Middle East's first academic medical center designed to the best international standards. Scheduled to open in early 2013, Sidra will provide world class, patient-focused, clinical services for women and children, medical education, and biomedical research in an ultra-modern, all-digital facility.The Clinical Nurse Leader I - Birthing Center II and Maternal Special Care Unit plans for the provision of clinical leadership to a set team of staff nurses through direct oversight of their daily practice. Modeling excellence in the three core areas of clinical practice, education and research the Clinical Nurse Leader I plans for the implementation of the Sidra vision of Family Centered Care.

* Plans for processes to ensure delegation, supervision and evaluation of the nursing care given by others while retaining accountability for the quality of care given to the client.

* Uses case management skills and principles in the planning of client care across a continuum.

* Plans for processes to prevent or limit unsafe or unethical health and nursing care practices by others.

* Communicates confidently and effectively with other project workers both in collegial and subordinate positions.

* Plans for processes to empower client populations in attaining and maintaining maximal functional wellness.

* Plans for processes to ensure the efficient use of human and material resources.

* Plans for processes to implement outcome measures to evaluate effectiveness of care.

* Plans for processes to ensure assessment of physical, cognitive, and social functional ability of the Birthing Center II and Maternal Special Care client in all developmental stages.

* Plans for processes to facilitate the use of assessment findings to diagnose, plan, deliver, and evaluate quality care stages.

* Applies research-based knowledge from nursing and the sciences as the foundation for evidence-based practice.

* Designs and Redesigns patient centered care processes based on analysis of outcomes and evidence-based knowledge.

* Plans for processes to facilitate the use of clinical judgment and decision-making skills to bring multiple perspectives into the interpretation of situations and problems encountered.

* Applies an ethical decision-making planning framework to clinical situations that incorporates moral concepts, professional ethics, and law and respects diverse values and beliefs.

* Uses epidemiological, social, and environmental data to draw inferences regarding the health status of client populations.

* Plans for processes to ensure the use of outcome measures to evaluate effectiveness of care through the acquisition of data and the questioning of inconsistencies, allowing for the revision of actions and goals.

* Participates in audit and research planning that focuses on the efficacy and effectiveness of nursing interventions.

* Plans for processes to facilitate an individual's capacity to assume responsibility for self care.

* Participates in Sidra commissioning activities including commissioning, service activation, recruitment and on-boarding.

* Assists educational specialists in development and implementation of educational/orientation documents and participates in orientation educational activities.

* In view of the developing and changing needs and opportunities within Sidra during this start up phase, the position may perform other duties as assigned.

* As the project moves towards opening, the duties of the position will be revised. The post holder will be kept appraised regarding development of the operational role and will be consulted as necessary regarding the job transition. The current post holder may transition into the new role following an appropriate selection process.ESSENTIAL

* Bachelors degree or Diploma in Nursing

* Current RN Licensure

* A minimum of 3 years Labor and Delivery, and High Risk Obstetric nursing clinical leadership experience in either a charge nurse or clinical supervisory role

* Experienced in organizing data and generating thorough, accurate , timely reports

* Current certifications as a BLS, PALS, ACLS, and  ILS provider

* Ability to integrate knowledge and skills acquired throughout the didactic and clinical education experiences

* Ability to use risk analysis tools to anticipate risks to client safety

* Ability to Access, critique, and analyze information sources

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to design, coordinate, and evaluate plans of care

* Ability to delegate, supervise, and evaluate the performance of nursing interventions

* Ability to manage group processes to meet care objectives and complete health care team responsibilities

* Ability to Synthesize data, information and knowledge on client outcomes and modify interventions to improve health care outcomes

* Ability to teach and assess and develop educational materials for staff and patients

* Demonstrated Fluency in written and spoken English language

* Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications

* Demonstrated experience with Clinical Information Systems (CIS) either as an end user, super-user or as a contributor to a CIS build

DESIRABLE

* Masters Degree in Nursing

* Post graduate certificate in specialty
